International Harvester Corporation some 45 years back introduced Cub cadet mower, a part of Cub Cadet brand of garden equipments. Today
Cub Cadet brand is owned and managed by MTD Products, Cleveland. Currently, Cub Cadet mower is managed by MTD as a part of its
brand portfolio, while earlier it was managed independently.
Cub cadet mowers can be bought in three categories – zero turn, self-propelled and push type. Zero turn mowers from the company are targeted
towards two segments namely residential and commercial. A typical zero turn mower can turn 360 on its fulcrum and offer substantial saving on
time. The engines fitted in this brand of mower are Kawasaki or Kohler. The power generated by the engines in this category range from 17 HP to
23 HP. This line of mowers offers a great comfort to users due to its high back and lever adjustment features. Some models also feature hand rest
for enhancing comfort. Price ranges from $2,600 to about $5,700.
A Cub cadet mower is also available in four self-propelled models ranging from $30 to $560 apiece. Self-propelled models are fitted with
either Honda or Kawasaki engine. All of these four models are designed to give 5.5 to 6 HP output. Mulching, bagging and side discharging
operations are taken care of by a 21 inch steel deck. Company claims that its patented CycloCut system offers high level of power and precision
for the operations.
The third line of Cub Cadet mowers constitutes walk behind mowers. One of the two models under this category is fitted with 5.5 HP engine and
20 inch steel deck for mulching and side discharging. The higher end model priced at $249 offers 21 inch steel deck for mulching, bagging and
